Buttonwood Grove Antonia Marie Sparkling Dazzles

This is a very special bottle of wine. I enjoyed it with Lenn Thompson at his home on Long Island with he and Michael Gorton Jr, and Lenn's wonderful wife Nena. It was a special treat - since the wine was a 1996 bottling.

Buttonwood Grove is known for their scrumptious Rieslings. This sparkling wine was made with a blend of 50% Cayuga and 50% Chardonnay. It was harvested from their oldest vineyard. Estate-grown and produced, it was aged in neutral oak for 6 months. The resulting wine starts off with a lovely dose of green apple and tropical fruits. A big, fruity nose. But the wine is not cloying. a slight sweetness is balanced by wonderful zippy acidity. There are layers and layers of great flavors, and the wine is absolutely delicious. Lots of fine, pretty bubbles. Great balance and complexity for the terrific wine. Buttonwood Antonia Marie isn't just good fizz - it dazzles. Try one of the current vintages!
