Harridan Vodka - A Powerful Statement in a Bottle

I recently tasted a lovely new vodka at the Massanois tasting in Saratoga Spring, NY, last week.

The name "Harridan" refers to an angry or belligerent woman and reflects the brand's mission to celebrate defiant and empowered women in the spirits industry. Bridgette Taylor is the CEO and Founder of Harridan Vodka. She currently lives in the West Village, in NYC. But the spirit is made in Burdett, New York in the Finger Lakes.

"I’ve always loved making cocktails, but I became mixology-obsessed during the early days of the Pandemic. As I experimented with recipes, I found liquor brand discovery half the fun," says Taylor. "I learned female founders were few and far between, and the brands marketed towards women were mostly run by men. I felt like this male-dominated industry demanded I buy pink, flowery, and low alcohol products – which reflected neither my style nor my taste preferences."

With time on her hands during the pandemic,  she decided to make a new type of vodka brand – one that was relentlessly committed to quality, artisanship, and flavor, while promoting exclusively female main characters.

Harridan is a premium, female-owned vodka handcrafted in New York from 100% organic, locally grown corn. It is an 88-proof, overproof vodka known for its distinctive, complex flavor with notes of citrus, vanilla, and black pepper, designed to be sipped on the rocks or used in cocktails. The vodka is presented in unique, hand-blown recycled glass bottles sealed with black wax, reflecting the brand's focus on craftsmanship and sustainability.

Harridan is a terrific vodka. stands up to ice wonderfully because of it's higher proof. And Its great for blending. Smooth and clean. A must try!
