"Bulrush distilling" refers to a unique pot distillation process used by Bulrush Gin to create its spirit by combining maceration (where botanicals are steeped in the spirit) and vapor infusion (where vapors pass through botanicals in a suspended basket) to extract flavors from thirteen different botanicals. This small-batch method is used by Bulrush Gin Distilling.
It is a small-batch gin (44 ABV, 88 proof) made with a 300-gallon copper pot still. The distillation process includes a 24-hour maceration of botanicals with a wheat-based spirit, followed by vapor infusion for secondary botanicals. The resulting gin has tremendous mouthfeel and super flavor. Love how the juniper and citrus notes are counterbalanced by the floral and spice characteristics. It has a soft, sweet, and spicy finish, lovely and smooth.
Even more unique was the Bulrush Blood Orange Gin. Their small-batch, gin recipe is enhanced with natural blood orange essence and other citrus notes like grapefruit. It's a 40% ABV (80 Proof) gin designed to be approachable for both gin enthusiasts and newcomers, offering citrus-forward and floral notes. Zesty and incredibly flavorful, this is one gin to drink on the rocks. A truly different kind of gin. A combination of the unique Bulrush method and the lovely flavors of the blood orange and grapefruit make this phenomenal.
Two great gins from South Carolina! Great job, Bulrush Distilling Company!
