Fort Hamilton Rye Whiskey Ice Cider Cask Finish - Genius!

Fort Hamilton Distillery was founded by husband and wife Alex Clark and Amy Grindeland. Alex Clark, a former bartender and financial trader, was inspired to create American rye whiskey and co-founded the Brooklyn-based distillery with Grindeland. Clark worked with Sasha Petraske, a notable figure in the cocktail scene. The distillery is located in Brooklyn, New York, with a tasting room and event space in an old industrial complex. Some of their products are blends made from sourced product. Not a sin. But the company emphasizes its New York roots and uses grains from the Hudson Valley for its non-sourced offerings.

Fort Hamilton Rye has been among my favorites since they first started putting out product.

One of their most interesting offerings is Fort Hamilton Rye whiskey Iced Cider Cask (5YO, 74 proof) which was part of their Continental Collection. They only made little more than 100 bottles of this incredible whiskey. And it was only available at Boutique Wines and SPirits owned by Paige Flori in the Hudson Valley. But I certainly hope they have more in the warehouse.

It started off with the lovely grass and cereal notes of a rye whiskey. And the spiciness never left the palate, But the Iced Cider left such a pleasant finish to thie whiskey it left an indelible mark.

Big kudos to Alex and Amy. A big fan of Fort Hamilton. And a stroke of artistic genius on the ice cider finish!
