Robibero’s The Stray 2021 Shows Depth, Power and Takes Home the Blue Ribbon

Robibero Winery is owned by the Robibero family, including Harry, Carole, and their daughter Tiffany. The family purchased the 42-acre property in New Paltz, New York, in 2003. The winemaker is Kristop Brown.

Robibero's "The Stray" 2021 is a red blend that is predominantly Cabernet Franc 82% with, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 9% Merlot. I recently tried this wine at the HVWGA Hudson Valley Wine Competition at the Hudson Valley Wine & Food Fest, where it won Best in Show.

Named after a stray dog that Tiffany took in, "The Stray" is a popular choice among visitors to the winery. They first released a version of The Stray in 2021, It has been a popular offering at the winery.

But this recently released vintage showed incredibly well. This rich wine is big with dark fruit flavors, and has a smooth finish. The bright and dark notes of berry and cherry  are combined with a certain earthiness, and spice. Some savory notes as well.

"The Stray" has gone from an adopted pet pooch, to stunning show dog. And took home the blue ribbon.

Great job to Harry, Carole, Tiffany, and the rest of the gang at Robibero!
