On July 10th, Mike Biltonen of Know Your Roots Orchard Consulting and Julia & Alex Alvarez-Perez of Usonia Winery held a summit of Finger Lakes wine & cider makers to taste 14 Heritage wines that I made at Cedar Cliff Vineyards or with Alfredo Alcántara & Deanna Urciuoli of Dear Native Grapes Winery. Of the 20 attendees, some of whom were Steve DiFrancesco, Phil Plummer, Paul Brock of Silver Thread Vineyard, and so many more. The wines: B. 4672, Estate White (Verdelet, White Burdin, Valarien), Jefferson, Rogers White (Agawam, Massasoit), Empire State, Burdin 6055/Chambourcin, Annie Noir, Pallmer, Le Colonel/Chelois, & Humbert # 3. I hope that we have more such seminars to introduce Heritage grape varieties that can be grown sustainably & make fun & unique wines.
