Whitecliff North River Petillant: the Hudson River Region Sparkles

Whitecliff Vineyards has a line of sparkling wines they've been working on for more than a decade now, and that line has reached maturity at this point. The North River label is a series of sparkling wines under the moniker of the old name for the Hudson River, under the Dutch. Also important is the fact that al the grapes in these wines are from the Hudson River Region. Some are even grown on the very banks of the Hudson at the North River Vineyard, planted by Whitecliff, just south of the city of Hudson.

Whitecliff North River Petillant Naturel sparkling wine, undergoes a fermentation in the bottle. Whitecliff also produces a sparkling Cuvee classic sparkler with estate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.  They also make a Rosé under the North River label. The Pet Nat sparkling uses grapes like Riesling, Traminette, and Vidal Blanc for this fun and lively sparkler.

A great job by Michael and Yancey Migliore, winemaker Brad Martz, and professor John Hudleson PhD.
