Arrowood Farm Distillery Rye Whiskey: 100% New York State Delicious

Arrowood Farm brewery & Distillery in Accord, New York, is a sustainably-minded farm brewery, distillery, and event destination in the Hudson Valley. They brew their own beer with ingredients grown right there onsite and from small, like-minded New York farms. They craft spirits with grains grown up the road from their own farm. They make and serve locally-inspired
comfort foods that make your visit that much more exciting.

I first became acquainted with their beers back when I owned Hudson-Chatham Winery and we carried their beers in two of our three tasting rooms. Blake Arrowood and Jake Meglio started the brewery back in 2016.  They work from a non-interventionist perspective - they try to let the ingredients express themselves naturally. They work with wild yeast. Lovely, esoteric, farmhouse-style beers. And they also make IPAs, Lagers and Pilsners that are very appealing.

They grow their own hops, grains, rare and heirloom produce. The bees in their apiary pollinate the gardens and, in the process, supply the one-of-a-kind house culture that defines their beer and spirits. Their fantastic Farmhouse Table Beer speaks to this process.

They bring the same passion to distilling. They distill with spring water from their farm, using wheat, rye and corn grown right there in the Hudson Valley by growers who are genuine partners. By distilling local grain, their spirits yield a unique flavor that truly reflects time and place. Whiskey terroir. That flavor showcases the Hudson Valley. Arrowood Farm Distillery spirits are made with New York State ingredients and are never blended.

I found this bottle at Left Bank Cider in Catskill, New York. It's made with 100% New York State grown ingredients. The distilled whiskey is aged for two years in New American oaked and proofed with water from their farm. This rye was absolutely wonderful. It had a strong, pine-iness to it. Super spicy. Very in your face, with notes of caramel, Christmas spice, green apple, and vanilla. The vanilla and spices linger a nice, long time. Bottled at 90 proof, the whiskey has a nice New York State hug to it. A lovely, lovely dram!
