Renewing a European family tradition of fine wine-making, Loew Vineyards was established in 1982. The rolling hills of the Maryland countryside provide an ideal setting for growing both vinifera and French-American grapes. Beautiful vineyards help to make exceptional estate-bottled wines.
Owner/winemaker Rachel Lipman makes the wines. Growing up learning about the family history and having fond memories of the vineyard, she began to immerse herself in all aspects of the industry. With a Bachelors of Science in Plant Science and a Bachelors of Arts in Communications from the University of Maryland, College Park. She also studied in France, interned at an organic vineyard in the Loire Valley. She also completed the Washington State University Enology Certification Program. Rachel currently is managing most aspects of the operations for the vineyard, winery, and tasting room. Including winemaking. She is unique blending cultural history and fine winemaking.
Loew Vineyards Chenin Blanc 2024 is aged for approximately five months in neutral oak. This rounds out the wine but leaves the fruit to shine through. And there is a brightness to this white wine this is very special. On the nose this dry white exhibits delicate notes of tropical fruits, green apple, fresh cut Bosc pear, and citrus peel. Other notes include peach, dried apricot, and ginger. A slight whiff of honeysuckle as well. On the palate, the green apple and pear come through, as well as quince, spice, and a big dose of fresh creamy lemon custard and lime curd. There's also lovely blue slate minerality. Zippy, crisp, layered, and elegant. Beautifully balanced. This is a dazzling wine. Great for sipping. A great wine to show off with friends and family. Loved it!
