I visited the Finger Lakes a few months ago. Still writing up so many tasting notes. One of my favorites was from Lakewood. Lakewood Vineyards is a family owned and operated farm winery established in
1988. Chris Stamp, grandson of the farm’s founders, has been making the wines for each of the winery’s 35 vintages. David Stamp, another grandson, oversees the grape growing, and has been working the farm his whole life. The 100 acres of vineyards includes some vines dating back to 1952, and currently consists of 15 varieties. A visit there is a lot of fun And if you're lucky, their mascot dog is there to great you!
This Lake Wood Dry Riesling 2024 is a 100% Riesling made from 70% Lakewood Farm fruit, 20% Boundary Breaks, and 10% Glenora Farm. This exquisite dry Riesling is bursting with fruit up front. - lots of tropical fruits, including pineapple and guava and lychee, notes of white peach and Granny SMith apple and green melon, hints of apricot and tangerine blossoms, and a nice minerality with a hint of petrol, and beautiful citrus and lime zest on the finish. And exquisite Dry Riesling that represents the best of sophisticated Finger Lakes Riesling.
