The Crossvines Cabernet Franc 2023 - I Really Loved This Wine

The Crossvines is a stunning facility. It is a gorgeous event venue, restaurant, vineyard, and golf club in Poolesville, Maryland. Their research vineyard, production facility, and partnership with the University of Maryland bring together the latest in technology, research, and academia to create the premiere winemaking facility in the state. It is a winemaking hub - it is state-of-the-art facility provides the latest in fermentation, aging, and storage technology, which allows independent producers to create wines that reflect their unique vision. Tyler Henley is the winemaker at The Crossvines, as of July 2025. Henley oversees production for the facility's house wines—including Fairway Rosé and Barn Door Red—and assists in guiding the co-op incubator winery's clients through the winemaking process. The vineyard manager is Daniel Larason.

The Crossvines Cabernet Franc White House Vineyards 2023 Cabernet Franc is a  vibrant medium-bodied red wine with lots of notes of red stewed fruit and notes of raspberry and strawberry and spice.  There's lots of chewy bright cherry, red raspberry, cranberry red cassis, and bramble. There's a hint of spices, a touch of tobacco and a touch of wet slate which both lend an honest earthiness. There's also good tannins full of black tea and terrific acidity. The red fruit lasts a good long time. Incredibly well balanced and complex, with layers of flavors, I really loved this wine.

A great success for Henley, Larason, and The Crossvines.
