Scout Vineyards Fleur Gamay Noir 2024 - Exquisite

So in March and April I went tasting New York State wines, especially in the Finger Lakes. Owned and operated by Daniel and Olivia Budmen, Scout Vineyards has been a leader since it opened its doors in making innovative and creative wines - always experimenting. The Budmens are graduates of Hobart and William Smith Colleges who pivoted from careers in environmental law and medicine to winemaking.

Scout Vineyards Fleur Gamay Noir 2024 is 100% Seneca Lake Gamay Noir from the Kashong Glen Vineyard managed by the Colizzi Family. The fruit was harvested in the last week of September of 20224, and after vinification, it was aged in French oak barrels for 12 months on the lees. This was a terrific wine, with a nose that exploded out of the glass. Big floral notes of violets fresh cut Bing cherries, brilliant plum, and lovely black berries. Bright and dark fruit filled the glass, with fresh red fruits and earthy notes of spice and wet slate. Terrific acidity and soft but firm tannins gave this wine tremendously delicate and elegant texture that was exquisite. The fruit lingered, cherry and perfume. Absolutely lovely!

Congratulations Daniel and Olivia!
