First planted in 1984, the grapes were sold to neighboring Long Island Wine Growers until the winery was built in 1996. Then winery was then called Laurel Lake Vineyards, located on the North Fork wine region. Founded by Dan Abrams in 2021, the name was changed to Ev&Em Vineyards, named for his children, Everett and Emilia. Vanessa Price is Dan's managing partner. The winemaker is Byron Elmendorf.
EV & EM Classic Cabernet Franc 2023 displays striking aromas of stewed dark berries, fresh cherry, tobacco and white pepper. There are also notes of plum and strawberry. There's a nice minerality that finishes with the pepper and a love juicy lingering of fresh fruit. Super drinkable.
EV & EM Classic Cabernet Franc 2024 (not yet bottled) was a super rich Cabernet Franc with a nose of dark cherry, dark raspberry, black currant, and stewed plums. Juicy and super ripe, this wine was a powerful yet delicate Cabernet Franc with complexity and balance. A terrific North Fork expression of North Fork Cab Franc.
