I recently ran into Eleanor Leger at the Hudson Valley wine and food festival. I am a huge fan of Eleanor. It is always good to see her.
Not only was she showing some of her exceptional cider, but she was also promoting the Iapetus Subduction 2022 red wine from Shelburne Vineyards. Ethan Joseph premiered this “project” more than a decade ago, and it continues to be a beautiful statement of wine from Vermont, with notes of earthiness and berries, and spice, that recall some of the prettier and softer red wines of the Southern Rhône. An exceptional wine with what Matt Kramer would have said exhibits a “somewhereness” in the best of all possible ways. Seductive, sexy, sensuous. A lovely red wine.
