Three Truly Amazing Dessert Wines - Hermann J. Wiemer, Rockridge Vineyard and Fox Run Vineyards

I love dessert wines, and I was lucky enough to taste these three winners with Lenn Thompson, of The Cork Report, and Michael Gorton Jr., whom I consider to have one of the best palates I have ever tasted with.

Most impressive was Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard Noble Selection Riesling 2014. A nose fresh tropical fruit, lychee, and a nice dose of petrol. Exquisite. Truly a world class bottling. Wiemer continues to excell as a producer of stunning, high quality wines. Fred Merwarth continues to produce amazing wines.

Virginia's Rockbridge Vineyard & Brewery's Vidal Ice Wine was a knock out with notes of honey, pineapple, tropical fruits and a zippy, lemony finish. Viscous and flavorful, Terrific!

The now retired Peter Bell first developed Fox Run Vineyards Tawny Port over 15-20 year period. He should have patented the complex process used to create this literaral work of art. Now headed by Craig Hosbach, this super rich, super unctious dessert wine exhibited lovely layers of cocoa, sweet tobacco, honey, dates and figs. Absolutely exquisite!!!!!

A great nite. Huge thanks to Nena Thompson for hosting and feeding three middle aged adolescents!! Great great night of tasting!
