I visited Seven Three Distilling in December of 2023, and sampled their line of New Orleans made bourbons! I also got the chance to hang out with talented and charming distillery General Manager and head distiller Luka Cutura!!!! I am a HUGE fan of Seven Three!
Seven Three's line of bourbons is called Bywater. The Bywater Four Grain Bourbon was a chewy multigrain whisky with lovely sweet notes, as well as a hint of cognac and Highlands notes, but with a taste that lingered and lingered.

I recently co-hosted Drinking on the Edge with David Furer, who welcomed the Crescent City's only distillery crafting bourbon, Seven Three. Luka Cutura and Kelsey Gooch shared their journeys, insights, and their 3 bourbons with the DotE crew. Featured amongst them was the soon-to-be released Whiskey Tree, its moniker harkening to an historic and still existent large tree which once served as a trading post for enterprising, discreet Louisiana whiskey aficionados and traders.
Loved the Bywater Straight Bourbon with its big big notes of vanilla, caramel, and cereal! Lip smacking!
The Whiskey Tree Whiskey was named for a point in the swamps outside of New Orleans used during Prohibition when bootleggers made hand offs to mobsters and citizens alike out if the sight of Federal Prohibition agents. This super high rye bourbon is almost cognac like, with big notes of caramel, baked apples and pears, but ending with a lovely, breathtaking wallop of Christmas spices. Fantastic new stuff!!!
Seventh Three Black Pearl Rum is 66% molasses and 33% evaporated sugar. All local sugar from Lula Farms. Also make great vodka and gin! Some very cool different aged rum expressions. Their Black Pearl Rum is fantastic. Smooth and impressive, this is another fantastic example of the field-to-glass series of craft, artisanal rums being made in Louisiana today. And Seven Three makes them right there in New Orleans.
