Last November I was searching through my cellar for a bottle to share with some friends. I pulled out this bottle of Bedell Taste 2010 and said, "Oooops!" Bedell is a quality producer. And Taste is a fun wine. But it's a fresh tasting rose, not meant for long term storage. That's not a dig at Bedell or at rose. I just don't cellar my roses that long. Many are not built for laying down. And I don;t know too many who would lay one down that long.
Bedell wines are made by Richard Olsen-Harbich. The wine was made from a blend of estate grapes including 62% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc, 7% Syrah, and 4% Petite Verdot. Taste Rose is known for its fresh, fresh flavors. I was worried that the wine might have lost is luster.
There was nothing to worry about. The wine was filled with fresh strawberries and bright cherry. Lovely, tropical notes, and it still had a very, very youthful acidity that kept the fruit lively and absolutely fresh!
A huge compliment to Richard Olsen Harbich and his staff from those years! Great wine. Super impressive that it tasted so good after laying down for so many years!
Great job! Congrats!
