New Jersey Takes Home Bling from Finger Lakes Wine Competition 2013

 
Garden State Wine Growers Association (GSWGA) Members Win One Double Gold
& Three Gold Medals in Finger Lakes 2013 International Wine Competition

Garden State Wine Growers Association (GSWGA) member wineries here in New Jersey once again shined in international competition, earning a double gold and four gold medals in the prestigious Finger Lakes International Wine Competition, held March 24-25 in Rochester, NY.

A total of 13 GSWGA members brought home 61 medals, including one double gold, three gold medals, and 18 silver and 38 bronze medals.

A double gold medal, the highest medal category in the competition, was won by Cape May Winery for their Isaac Smith Port. Cape May Winery also earned gold medals for its 2012 Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio. Hopewell Valley Winery of Pennington earned a pair of gold medals for their 2009 Sangiovese and Dessert Sparkling wine. Hopewell Valley also won a silver medal for its White Merlot in the Sweet rose category and took home seven bronze medals.

The Finger Lakes International Competition benefits Camp Good Days & Special Times, a nonprofit organization that provides camping experiences for those with cancer, HIV/AIDS and other challenges. The competition featured over 3,500 wines from all 50 states and 20 countries and was judged by 70 of the world’s best judges from 14 countries.
