Billsboro Dry Riesling 2023 - Simply Fantastic!

Billsboro Winery is located in a century old barn main tasting room that sits on an idyllic 60 acres overlooking the northern end of Seneca Lake, in the Finger Lakes. Billsboro was originally founded in 2000 by Dr. Bob Pool and Jennifer Morris, who established it as Geneva's first bonded winery. Current owners Kim and Vinny Aliperti purchased the estate in 2007 and have been operating it ever since. They are a high quality wine producer and have long been one of my favorite wineries. The Billsboro Dry Riesling has always been among the best dry Rieslings produced in the US, and one of the flagship wines of the region.

Billsboro Dry Riesling is a crisp, aromatic white wine crafted from 64% Sawmill Creek Vineyards and 36% Zugibe fruit. The lots were fermented separately in stainless steel tanks then blended on December 6th. The wine was then aged in stainless steel tank on light lees for 5 months. Filtered and bottled on June 6th, 2024.

The 2023 Dry Riesling is a wild blend of tropical fruits and acid in the best of all sense. A big bomb of a dry Riesling with beautiful aromas and tangy finish. Fresh lime zest, peaches, apricots, Lychee, and Granny Smith apple burst from the glass, from the nose to the palate. On the palate there's also honeydew and kiwi. There's a wonderful blue slate inerality to it. And the grapefruit comeback in a big way for the final pop giving this a lovely dry, zippy finish. Elegant. Layered. Refreshing. Sophisticated.

Simply - a fantastic, versatile wine.
