Port of Leonardtown is a unique winery - it is an agricultural cooperative consisting of 15 members' vineyards from a small 1/2 acre to several acres to produce the best wine from the best Southern Maryland growers. The wonderful and talented Lauren Zimmerman is their highly accomplished winemaker.
Port of Leonardtown Winery's Old Line Red is named for Maryland's famous Old Line of troops who made their fame during the American Revolution. The wine is made from classic Bordeaux based grapes - 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Petit Verdot, and 15% Cabernet Franc. That's old school. This is a is a classic, dry, full-bodied red that exudes fresh fruit but old world styling. A seductive nose of black cherry, dark raspberry, and boysenberry, layer beautifully with Connecticut tobacco, tart plums, luscious figs, and a beautiful finish of dark brewed tea and lovely sour plum. Absolutely delicious!!!
