9 Great Eastcoast Gins Perfect For Summer

Summer is here, and it's time to drink gin!! Something light and thirst quenching. I love a G&T in the summer. But there are numerous cocktails. Lots of limes squeezed into a glass, with a few rocks, and a splash of refreshing gin. An ice cold gin Martini while standing watch over the grill. Or maybe some French 75s or a wine and gin spritz. A grapefruit and gin! Get some great flavor this summer!

Here are nine Eastcoast artisanal gins you need to try! Grab a bottle or two and invite over some friends and family, and pour some refreshment.

Philadelphia Bluecoat American Dry Gin is a citrus-forward American Dry Gin distilled in Philadelphia, PA, by Philadelphia Distilling. Made with juniper berries, coriander seed, angelica root, and a prominent blend of  lively citrus peel. It is known for its bright profile, mellow juniper notes, and 100% certified organic botanical.

Barr Hill Gin from Caledonia Spirits in Vermont is made from honey. Bright juniper botanicals contrast beautifully by the wildflower honey. Sweet, smooth, and incredibly vibrant, this gin is among my favorites straight up on in cocktails.

Barr Hill Reserve Tom Cat Gin is the classic clear American gin barrel-aged in new American oak. This creates a rich caramel-colored, deep flavored gin, with big notes of juniper. A touch of raw honey makes this spirit complex, yet approachable, This bottling appeals to gin and whiskey drinkers alike.  And it is perfect for cocktails, especially The Martinez a classic, spirit-forward, direct precursor to the modern Martini.

Fort Hamilton New World Gin is distilled from New York grown corn, with freshly peeled Orange, Lime, Lemon, Cucumber and Watermelon,. This is an exceptional gin, perfect for summer, Great on the rocks, with soda water, and tonic. Great for Martinis and G & T’s

1911 Gin is a premium small batch spirit made from New York State apples. This is a wonderful citrus forward gin, infused with good solid juniper and coriander notes, Incredibly smooth and easy to drink. Super straight on ice, in a Martini, or G&T.

Ten Mile Listening Rock Gin is a made from their grain-based mash, all grown in New York State. Each grain is distilled separately and then later blended to the perfect flavor. They also grow as many of their botanicals as they can. The botanicals are not force-infused through a gin basket, but instead are gentle steeped. A delicious, light, delicate gin. Excellent.

Harvest Spirits Core Gin is made from 100% estate grown New York State apples, grown on the family's farm. This gin opens with soft floral statement on the nose. There's subtle juniper notes, and berry tang, finishing with notes of coriander and lemongrass. This is a perfect gin for cocktails. A perfect spirit.

Lake Placid Blue Line Gin is made using water from the great Adirondack Park, the largest lake in the lower 48 States. The process starts with corn and wheat and goes through a two-step distillation procedure. Solid cocktail gin, perfect for a French 75, a Pink Grapefruit Fizz, a Blackberry Bramble, or a Strawberry-Rhubarb Spritz. Maybe a Cucumber Cooler.

Springbrook Hollow Sly Fox Gin is a medal-winning, small batch, copper pot still, artisanal gin chock-a-block with juniper berries and other botanicals. Made with New York State grains and fruits. Sly Fox Gin is created with Springbrook Hollow water from the Adirondack Mountains. Terrific solo, on the rocks, or as a cocktail.

It's summer on the east coast. Drink up!
