Bottlings of sparkling Cayuga continue to make a huge impression on the east coast wine industry - from New England down to Maryland and Virginia - an affordable and fun way to challenge Prosecco in the marketplace. Bright, bubbly, and bursting with fun fruity flavor, this zippy entry is turning heads in almost every region. I was recently at the Maryland Governor's Cup tasting where I tasted Lauren Zimmerman's newest entry Bubbly Blonde.
The Port of Leonardtown Winery’s Bubbly Blonde 2023 is a terrific sparkler made from 90% Cayuga and 10% Chardonel. Light, fruity, crisp, with terrific bubbles, this sparkler is extremely well made and absolutely delicious and mouthwatering. An excellent wine that will add sparkling and zing to any occasion whether it's for two - or two hundred!
