J. Stephen Casscles on Philip and Joycelan Wagner in AWS Wine Journal

A big, big thank you to J. Stephen Casscles for mentioning and citing me several times in his newest article on Philip and Joycelyn Wagner, the founders of Boordy Vineyards. Wagner was among the most influential wine voices of mid to late 20th century America. His winemaking books never went out of print. He influenced generations of winemakers, and helped to establish east coast winemaking as a viable indutry. He was also the man who inherited H L Mencken's desk, and was the editor of the Baltimore Sun for many years. He and his wife established Boordy in 1945. It is still in business today, now owned by the Deford family. I remains one of the best wineries on the east coast.

Great article!

According to Steve Casscles: It is an honor to be published in American Wine Society Journal, and to discuss the work of pioneering vignerons and nursery owners Philip & Jocelyn Wagner of Boordy Vineyards, Maryland. It was a pleasure to have known the Wagners and so happy to have the experiences that I and my colleagues had on his work and life. If you do not belong, the American Wine Society is a great organization to join, that has many local chapters. Tagging my colleagues Eric Miller, Carlo DeVito, Alfredo Alcántara of Dear native grapes, Mike Biltonen of Know Your Roots Orchard Consulting, Marvin Baum of High Tor Vineyards, LLC, Beth Shefield of Highland Meadow Vineyards, Jerry Eisterhold of TerraVox Winery, Bob Bedford of Hudson Valley Wine Magazine, Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association, American Society for Enology & Viticulture - Eastern Section, Eastern NY Commercial Horticulture Program.
