Bellview Winery is a winery in the Landisville section of Buena in Atlantic County, New Jersey. A family produce farm since 1914, the vineyard was first planted in 2000, and opened to the public in 2001. Bellview has 40 acres of grapes under cultivation, and produces 8,000 cases of wine per year.  Bellview Winery is in the Outer Coastal Plain AVA, and produces wine from Blaufränkisch (Lemberger), Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cayuga White, Chambourcin, Chardonnay, Fredonia, Ives noir, Merlot, Muscat Ottonel, Niagara, Petit Verdot, Pinot Gris, Syrah, Tinta Cão, Touriga Nacional, Traminette, Vidal Blanc, and Viognier grapes. Jim Quarella is the fourth generation to farm their land. He founded the winery, and his son Scott is also overseeing the winery for the next generation.

These grapes were grown in the outer Coastal Plain, and growing region in New Jersey. The Outer Coastal Plain is producing great fruit. Deep dark reds, and full bodied whites. It's hot, sunny, and the soils are well drained. And the season lasts a good long time. More and more great wines are being made with grapes sourced from this region.

I tasted this Bellview Cabernet Franc 2022 at Eastern Winery Exposition 2025.  The wine is made up of 90% estate Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 5% Blaufrankisch. The Cab Franc was were harvested towards the end of September at approximately 22.6 Brix. The wine was fermented between the last few days of September and the first week in October, and eventually aged in a combination of neutral French and American oak.

The color on the wine was a deep garnet. The nose had hints of dark cherries, dark raspberry, with lots of spice in the background. The fruits come through on the palate, along with a hint of plum, notes of cedar, and white pepper. Silky smooth. Nice tannins. And the fruit lingered for a nice long time. A terrific wine.

Bellview Cabernet Franc 2022 is another strong statement from the Outer Coastal Plain that the region is a major producer of fine wines. And you should hurry up and get a bottle of this fine Cabernet Franc and see what it's all about. Great stuff! Congrats to Jim, Scott, and the whole Quarella family!
