I was invited to write an article about Petillant Naturel for the American Wine Society Wine Journal in the Spring 2021 issue. Big thanks to the folks over at AWS including former Director David Falcheck and editor Jim Rink. I had a lot of experience drinking Pet Nats from as far away as Europe, and most notably from such places like Old Westminster in Maryland, Bellview Vineyards, Hawk Haven Vineyards, and Beneduce Vineyards in New Jersey, Glendale Ridge in Massachusetts, Macari Vineyard on the North Fork, Greendale Vineyards in Rhode Island and even from La Garasita in Vermont. All are spectacular.
I also starting making Pet Nats during my stint as winemaker in 2022 at Unionville Vineyards in New Jersey. I made a Riesling Pet Nat and a Rose Pet Nat there. It's a great, fun wine. Enjoy!
