While I was at Eastern Winery Exposition 2020 I was offered this wine to taste. The Sweet Baby Vineyard Bubbly Cayuga White. Sweet Baby Vineyard is located in New Hampshire.
Lewis and Stacy Eaton started Sweet Baby Vineyard in 2008. "What started as a hobby for Lewis, quickly grew into a family business. We originally chose our home in Kensington because it had a lot of land for our children to play and space to garden. Growing up in New Hampshire, our family has always enjoyed all of the fresh fruits that the spring, summer and fall bring. Each season we take the kids to the local farms to pick strawberries, blueberries, peaches and apples. We decided to bring these fresh fruits grown at our local farms to our wine. We also turned part of our land into a vineyard, which yields four varieties of the grapes we use in our wine... In the spring of 2016, we planted over 2000 new grape vines. Our new home has almost 8 acres, a separate building for year round tastings, a production building and a large three story barn for finished wine storage." Lewis is the winemaker at Sweet Baby Vineyard.
Sweet Baby Bubbly Cayuga White is a dry or off-dry sparkling wine. What I was first pleased to see was that the grapes, while not estate, were locally grown in New Hampshire. New Hampshire has normally been one of those states where its been too cold to grow grapes. Now with a combination of classic eastern grown grapes and the new Minnesota varieties, more and more growers are growing more and more grapes in the state. This wine was lovely, with a terrific nose of apricot, melon, and peach. A lovely acidity also balanced out the wine, and the sparkle made it fun and delightful.
A lovely sparkling wine from Sweet Baby Vineyard! Perfect for celebrations of any kind! Impress your friends and relatives ASAP!
