At Grace Estate Winery, they embrace their Central Virginian terroir on their 50 acres of Estate vineyards and with 14 vitis vinifera varietals. Their goal from vintage to vintage is to produce the highest quality possible to make small batch, bright and crisp white wines and focused, complex and age worthy reds.
This is their second Bordeaux style blend. The 2013 vintage is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 17% Tannat. Aged 16 months in 30% new, 70% neutral French oak barrels.
This was a luxurious assemblage, with big dark fruit upfront of stewed red fruits (cherries, raspberries, red cassis) and a beautiful finish filed with vanilla, spice, and orange pekoe tea finish. A lovely, lovely red wine, worthy of any region. Fantastic!
