Frosty Coastal Vineyards grapes in South Dartmouth. |
The Massachusetts Cheese & Wine Trails map indicates that there
are 40 licensed wineries, "producing wine from a collection of locally grown fruits - grapes, apples, cranberries, peaches, and blueberries - across, roughly, a total of 2,200-acres of wine farm land,
where 439 acres are devoted exclusively to wine production."
We hope you will enjoy meeting owners of eight wineries
as we celebrate our fifth annual Massachusetts Farm Wineries Day.
Many wineries offer wine tastings at their vineyards. Others have started wine clubs that offer special events for members.

Still River Winery's apple ice wine [Apfel Eis] is made from a blend of apple varieties coming from Massachusetts orchards. Over 80 apples
go into each bottle. Unlike most wines and ciders made from apples,
Apfel Eis has absolutely no sugar added during fermentation.
Still River Winery takes full advantage of the fact that central Massachusetts grows the world's best apples. Harvard, MA, where
the Holtzman's live and where the winery is located, is rich in thriving apple orchards, offering the ideal soil, climate and hours
of sunlight for producing the best tasting varieties.
Artisan Beverage Cooperative/Green River Ambrosia is making their special Cranberry Local Libation just for us; available in limited quantities.....of course, you can't go wrong with Ginger Libation, Winter Warmer Mead, Liquid Sunshine Mead or
Bourbon Barrelled Buckwheat Mead.
Rumor has it that Carr's Ciderhouse will have a brand new cider to debut at the market this week. Our fingers are crossed.
Two new culinary products, cider syrup and a bold and fruity apple cider vinegar can be used for both sweet and savory dishes.
"Cider syrup is sweet and has a great acid punch, so it not
only is amazing on yogurt and pancakes, but also in cocktails and
on roasted meats; on roasted vegetables and in baked desserts;
on ice cream and foie gras", says owner Nicole Blum.
