Visitors along the Berks County Wine Trail during summer's hottest month will be cooled by samples of refreshing summertime wines and the opportunity to participate in a ‘Christmas in August’ event Saturday, August 4 and Sunday, August 5 from noon to 5 p.m. both days.

The self-guided tour of the wine trail will give visitors the chance to share Holiday cheer while enjoying samples of wines of the Berks County region. This event will be a way to experience this region of Pennsylvania's wine making scene. This event is free and no reservations are required.

Featured at each Berks County Wine Trail winery will be a focused wine pairing intended expand one's appreciation of the breadth of wine making in our region. For example, visitors can experience the differences between steel-aged Chardonnay with Oak-aged Chardonnay; explore the distinctions between a Pinot Noir from two different vintage years; delight in the nuances between Blueberry and Raspberry wine; and sample champagne made in the traditional French method versus the modern carbonated style.

The event will also be an opportunity to get a jump start on your holiday shopping — and contribute to a good cause. Every winery on the tour will ‘adopt’ a local charity: For each bottle of wine purchased at each winery during the event, a dollar will be donated to that particular charity.

In the coming days, information on the tour will be available by going to www.berkscountywinetrail.com including the lineup of wine experiences featured at each winery, and the list of charitable organizations paired with the wineries.

In addition to the event’s wine focus, local, hand-made artisan crafts or ornaments will be available for purchase. Details about local artisans and their crafts featured at select wineries during this event will also be posted on the wine trail's website.

The wine trail event is a self-guided tour — so participants can create their own holiday adventure of tasting and shopping.
