Boxwood Rose' (VA)

Boxwood Vineyards is easilly one of my favorite wineries on the east coast. Who wouldn't like it. It is a jewel box of a winery. I have never seen anything out of place. It is sparse, stark, and attractive. It's like a Ferrari or a Bugatti. It has sleek likes and lots of chrome.

But the winery also makes great wines. And one of my new favorites is the Boxwood Rose'. Adam McTaggart is the winemaker under flying winemaker Steve D.!

On March 31, 2012, the stunning and eminently drinkable dry Boxwood Rose vintage of 2011 was released with events in all of The Tasting Room Wine Bars and in a joint event with Chef Mike Isabella's Graffiato in Washington DC.

This was made using a whole-berry press of Malbec blend with Merlot and Cabernet Franc lending aromas of fresh apricot, strawberry, and watermelon are followed by hints of spices like thyme, and star anise. A touch of limne on the finish.

The effervscent Rachel Martin continues to oversee the ascent of one of Virginia's premiere wineries.
