If there is anything as plentiful in Virginia as Civil War historic sites it is wineries. More than 200 wineries can now be found in nearly every corner of the Commonwealth and many of them are within easy distance of some of Virginia’s best-known Civil War battlefields. Virginia Tourism Corporation connects wine lovers to Civil War sites – and history lovers to wineries – during the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War and Emancipation Virginia introduces its Sesquicentennial Winery Passport program.
Twenty-three participating Virginia wineries are part of the Virginia Civil War Wine Trail and have rebranded selected wines with commemorative labels, making the bottles as collectible as their contents are delicious. The passports themselves, which are available at each participating winery or online at http://www.virginiawine.org/sesquicentennial, are a guide not only to the wineries but also to nearby Civil War battlefields and historic sites.

A fold-out state map pinpoints the locations of 42 key Civil War battlefields. Visitors carrying the passport can have them stamped at each participating winery, creating a memorable keepsake.
