Clovis Point Winery - Great Hospitality and Wine (NY)

Clovis Point is owned by the team of Nasrallah and Marilyn Misk, Mark and Dina Misk and Richard Frey. The General manager is Rob Rudko and the winemaker is John Leo.I haven't been to Clovis Point in forever, and I thought I'd check it out.

I walked in and was happily greeted by Hannah Robertson and her staff!!! Let me say, right off the bat...she and her group were terrific!!!!  I got there late on a Friday and apologized for coming not too long before closing. But they could not have been nicer nor more accomodating. It was a huge thrill! Terrific customer service!

Clovis Point started off with three lovely chardonnays. The first was the Chardonnay 2015 which is a stainless steel chardonnay with a touch of Gewurztraminer. Hints of green apple and pineapple with a lovely floral and tropical notes. Very bright and easy drinking.

The Clovis Point Chardonnay 2015 Black Label is 25% barrel fermented; 75% stainless steel. Amazing notes of tropical fruits, citrus, and vanilla. A beautifully balanced chardonnay with tons of flavor and layered complexity.

The Chardonnay 2015 Barrel Fermented is a beautiful wine 100% barrel fermented with lots of Bosc pear, red apple, melon, honeysuckle and apricot. A lovely, beautiful wine that has lots of vanilla and spice and a creamy ending.

Clovis Point Cabernet Franc 2014 was a lovely wine. This Cab Franc is tinged with 3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petite Verdot. Its an impressive wine, with big notes of dark cherry, blueberry,  mocha, and other spices. Nice fruit up front and a lovely smooth finish.. Big berry. Spice and vanilla. lovely!

Two other favorite reds were the Clovis Point Syrah 2014 and the Clovis Point Malbec 2014. The Syrah had lots of dark fruit, blackberry, cherry, and cassis with lots of vanilla, pepper, and spice. The Malbec was a big, jammy Malbec with lots of plum, cassis, and blackberry jam. A hint of smoke and vanilla. Lovely!

It had been a long time since I'd been to Clovis Point, and I was chagrined! The wines were very lovely very drinkable, and I cursed myself that I'd been away so long. Won't let that happen again any time soon! Don;t let it happen to you!
