Macari Rose 2013 - Gorgeous! (NY)

Joseph Macari Jr. has been at the forefront of natural farming on Long Island through Macari's adoption of biodynamic principals since the vineyard’s first plantings. Extensive soil preparation, a rich composting program, meticulous cover cropping and a passionate respect for wildlife creates a distinctive place for Macari’s 200 acres of vines to thrive.

Kelly Urbanik has proven her self over and over. It seems her move over to Macari was one of the best things that ever happened to her. And Macari's commitment to her shows. They swapped out tanks for egg-shaped cement fermentors, and have invested in a way that shows that they are absolutely committed to making great wines. Excellent doesn't start half way down. it starts at the top. And there is no question that the Macari family is all in!

Crafted in the traditional French style, the 2013 rosé is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. A big floral nose greets you. It's a bouquet of flowers, strawberries, apricot, peaches, and lime. The fruit comes across on this absolutely dry rose, but with great zippy acidity to give it a refreshing, fabulous finish.

Had it for dinner no long ago with grilled salmon. What an amazing pairing. Absolutely mouthwatering! This is a perfect rose for summer! Get some asap!
