Macari Rose' 2011 (NY) Is A Gem

Macari Vineyard has long been one of my favorite wineries, and certainly one of the better wineries on the North Fork of Long Island. They are a classy operation, with good, solid, consistent, and elegant wines up and down their portfolio. Quality isn't something you have to look for in a Macari wine. Macari doesn't make a wine that isn't quality.

Recently, I was very excited to try the Macari Rose' 2011.

This lovely rosé is a blend of mostly Merlot, with a decent amount of Cabernet Franc, followed closely by Cabernet Sauvignon and a small amount of Malbec. This recent vintage of their wonderful rose' has a lucious salmon pink color, that sparkles in the in the glass like a fine, light gem. Strawberries, raspberries and watermelon all come through, balanced beautifully with a fine underpinning of bright citrus. A lonvely, long lasting finish - dry, but the fruit lingers afterwards.
