2007 Leo Family Red from Mattituck, NY

John Leo is the winemaker at Clovis Point.

He grew up in the Hudson Valley and attended Syracuse University. After college he sold wine and eventually leaned how to make it in the Hudson Valley, eventually moving, in 1994, to Long Island.

Aside form making wine at Clovis, John also has a small release called 2007 Leo Family Red. It's a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. And it's a smashign fabulous wine.

Big, deep, smokey, velvety, with hints of raspberry, dark cherry, and a hint of prune as well as cedar and spice, this is a big, impressive wine, with low tannins, nice fruit and balanced acidity.

A wonderful, wonderful wine.
