Bellview Winery Viognier 2008

Bellview winery is a small, family owned winery in south Jersey, run by owners Jim and Nancy Quarella.

Just recently I picked up a bottle of their Viognier Outer Coastal Plain Estate Grown and Bottled 2008.

According to Jim and Nancy, "Viognier is a lesser-known grape that deserves to be more widely recognized. Our wine is a lovely example that lets the varietal characteristics shine through, with delicious flavors of peach and apricot. It's dry, yet the fruitiness is pronounced, and leaves a warm finish. This is a flavorful white which is often appreciated by professed red wine drinkers."
Awards by Vintage:
2006: Gold Medal in the 2006 New Jersey State Wine Competition.
2005: Gold Medal in the 2006 New Jersey State Wine Competition. Gold Medal in the 2006 Fingerlakes International Wine Competition.
2004: Gold Medal Winner in both the 2005 and 2006 New Jersey State Wine Competition.
2003: Bronze Medal winner in the 2004 in the New Jersey state competition.

Firstly, I agree completely with Jim and Nancy. And secondly, this wine was wonderful. It's nose was light and fruity.
The peach and apricot came through as promised. This is a lovely drinking white wine. Really well worth the money, and the only New Jersey Viognier I've seen so far.
Great job, folks!
